Mob Museum Las Vegas: Complete Breakdown

The Mob Museum is a national museum dedicated to organized crime and mob history. It offers a glimpse into American organized crime through interactive exhibits that include audio, video, guided and self-guided tours.

Officially known as the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, the museum tells America’s story of organized criminality. Given Sin City’s history of being an early outpost for the Mafia, Las Vegas’ location is justifiable. It is located in a historic Downtown Las Vegas building that was once a Federal Courthouse. The Mob Museum offers a comprehensive view of American history through three floors. These exhibits include interactive environments, one-of-a-kind artifacts, and high-tech theatre presentations.

There are three levels of interactive exhibits at the Mob Museum, including the Line Up. It involves getting in line with a fake police officer holding a book card and having your photo taken. The Mob Museum will also reveal the real stories behind the names that visitors recognize from movies. Al Capone and Tony Spilotro are just a few of the many infamous names who played key roles in American organized criminal activity. You will also find out about Joe Pistone and Donnie Brasco who were undercover agents to bring down the Mob.

History of the Mob Museum

The Mob Museum opened in an old courthouse. It houses a number of immersive, world-class exhibits about American organized crime. You can discover the lives of famous Dons and Made Men as well as Capos, and learn how American history was shaped by the ongoing battle between law and mob. On March 1, 2017, the American Alliance of Museums awarded Mob Museum accreditation. This accreditation is the most prestigious national recognition and means that the Mob Museum has joined a small group of museums that meets national standards and follow best practice for US museums.
